Vallejo Police Department's August 30, 2023, Homicide Suspect Arrested

 VALLEJO, CA On August 30, 2023, at approximately 5:35 P.M., Vallejo Police Department (VPD) officers attempted to conduct a felony stop on a Toyota Avalon near the intersection of Tennessee Street and Tuolumne Street. The Avalon was identified as the suspect vehicle in multiple armed robberies in Vallejo.

Despite the officers activating their overhead emergency lights and siren, the driver failed to pull over, initiating a pursuit. Due to concerns for public safety, the pursuit was terminated when officers lost sight of the speeding vehicle headed eastbound in the 3300 block of Tennessee Street.

Approximately 30 seconds later, while conducting an area check for the suspect vehicle, another police unit observed the Avalon traveling westbound on Springs Road near Mosswood Avenue at high speed, weaving through traffic. By the time officers safely made a U-turn, the suspect vehicle had gained several blocks' distance. Shortly after proceeding westbound on Springs Road, officers noticed a significant amount of debris and dust near the area of Springs Road and Tregaskis Avenue.

Approximately 15 seconds later, officers arrived at the collision site and found the Toyota Avalon had collided with two other vehicles. Tragically, the driver of one of the uninvolved vehicles sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Following the collision, the driver of the Toyota Avalon fled on foot, evading capture. Investigating officers searched the Avalon and discovered a loaded firearm. non-life-threatening injuries.

The VPD Detective Division responded and took over this investigation. During the course of this investigation, the VPD Detectives identified the responsible suspect in this homicide as a juvenile. This case was presented to the Solano County District Attorney's Office, resulting in the issuance of an arrest warrant for the juvenile.

On March 20, 2024, a detective observed the wanted juvenile near the intersection of Ohio Street and Sutter Street. Patrol officers conducted a felony traffic stop leading to the apprehension of the juvenile responsible for this homicide. Due to the suspect's age, their identity will remain confidential.
