Vallejo PD Proactively Responds to Sunday Sideshow Activity
Posted on 12/15/2020
On December 13, 2020 at approximately 7:00pm, the Vallejo Police Department was alerted to a large sideshow in the area of Sacramento and Marin Street.
Upon arrival, the crowd dispersed immediately as officers located over 50 vehicles and hundreds of participants.

One of the designated officers attempted an enforcement stop on a participating vehicle, which led officers on a short pursuit before the suspect fled from the vehicle on foot. Officers subsequently located the suspect, identified as 20-year-old William Franco of Antioch. Franco was taken into custody without incident and later transported to the Solano County Jail. Franco’s vehicle will be impounded for 30 days.

Officers also spotted another participating vehicle with paper covering the license plates turn onto Graves Court from Georgia Street. The officers conducted an enforcement stop and initiated contact with the driver, who was discovered to be unlicensed and identified as 18-year-old Mario Nictael Lopezmass of Oakland. Lopezmass was issued a citation and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days. During an inventory search of the vehicle, a 30-round handgun magazine with one cartridge was located. No firearm was located.

VPD officers worked diligently with the CHP Air Unit to position themselves at varying sideshow hotspots to prevent the sideshows from forming. All participants were dispersed at approximately 9:00 p.m.

The Vallejo Police Department would like to thank our officers and allied agencies for their proactive policing and continued efforts to alleviate sideshow activity in the City of Vallejo.
