Jason Potts, Captain, VPD

Jason PottsCaptain Jason Potts began his career with the Vallejo Police Department in 2000 and currently serves as Captain of the Operations Bureau and Emergency Services Unit (ESU). Captain Potts has deep roots in Vallejo, a city he grew up in and called home for many years.

During his career at the Vallejo Police Department, he has worked the following assignments in various capacities: Patrol, DEA task force, Crime Suppression Unit/Special Operations, Narcotics Enforcement Team, FBI Solano County Safe Streets Violent Gang Task Force, Investigations, SWAT, FTO, Bicycle Patrol, Internal Affairs, and Administrative Lieutenant. 

Captain Potts is also a military Reserve Special Agent with Coast Guard Investigative Service (CGIS). Captain Potts has a Master’s Degree from the University of California, Irvine in Criminology, Law, and Society and is a National Institute of Justice (NIJ) LEADS alumni. In June of 2019, he was recognized nationally at George Mason University for his collective efforts with the department in advocating for evidence-based policing.
